Dear Tenant,

On April 14, 2020, the Province of Ontario extended the state of emergency for an addition 28 days until May 12, 2020. As a result, Barrie Housing will continue to operate via the guidelines outlined in our communication dated April 6, 2020.

We understand that the situation has been difficult for many of you and we are here to help. Some of you may have lost income, are experiencing anxiety, feeling isolated or just need someone to talk to. We know that it is difficult to be isolated, in some cases with children who want to see their friends and be outside. You are also not able to visit your families and friends, which can be stressful. Please know that we are here to support you where possible. Our communities are doing an amazing job of following the guidelines and we thank you for doing your part to slow down the spread of Covid-19.

For any type of assistance, please contact your Housing Support Worker. Subsequently, you can also contact our Community Development Manager, Karey Comer at karey@barriehousing.com. If you do not know who your Housing Worker is, you can find the contact information on our website www.barriehousing.com or contact head office at 705-727-1101 extension 230.

If you are self-isolating due to a potential infection, please advise us by calling (705)-727-0414 ext. 222 or email us at karey@barriehousing.com.

Until May 12, 2020, head office and all other offices within the portfolio will remain closed. Options for paying rent are below:

  • 1.Online you will require an account number please contact (705)-727-1101 ext. 229 if you do not have an account number and one will be provided to you.
  • 2.Mail cheques and money orders can be mailed. Please do not mail cash. Please note Barrie Housing is not responsible for any rent sent through the mail. If possible, please take a copy of any money orders or cheques you send through the mail.
  • 3.Leaving cheques and money orders in the drop boxes at your locations. Please do not leave cash in drop boxes.

All maintenance work orders that are non-essential and non-emergency will be put on hold until May 12, 2020. Staff and contractors will only be entering units to complete emergency work orders and prior to the visit, we will be asking some pre-screening questions to determine safety. During this time, our cleaning staff as well as external vendors are ensuring that our buildings are sanitized.

If you have an emergency work order, please contact our call centre at (705)-739-4369. Please note that emergencies include loss of heat, loss of power, loss of water, water leakage, floods and sewer back up.
